Assemblymember Richard Bloom invites you to the Assembly Select Committee on The State of Hate hearing on May 2, 2019. At a time when anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, homophobic and racist behavior is on the rise, this hearing takes on increased importance. Expert panels will examine the current state of hate speech and crimes in California in an effort to explore ways to more effectively address it.
The first hearing, in association with Santa Monica College’s Public Policy Institute, will feature a panel discussion comprised of representatives from the Anti-Defamation League, the LA County Human Relations Commission, Loyola Marymount University’s Center for the Study of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles Police Department’s Counter-Terrorism & Special Operations Bureau.
For further information and due to limited space, RSVP strongly recommended. Please contact: Melissa.Kaufler@asm.ca.gov or visit asmdc.org/Bloom/StateOfHate.
